HIKING TRAILS

MÖLLTALER GLETSCHER

For all hikes as well as for walks in alpine and high alpine terrain we recommend good shoes and warm clothing, as well as rain protection.

In addition, inform yourself more precisely about the hiking trails before starting a hike.

EASY HIKING TRAILS

2 Eisseeweg - Gletschererlebnis (ideal for families)

Starting point: Eisseebahn mountain station at the panoramic restaurant Eissee.

Hike along trail no. 2 to the top with the chairlift, up to the summit (3,122 m).
From there a fantastic panorama opens up to the observer.
Descent again with the chairlift!
LIFT USE NOT POSSIBLE DURING SKI OPERATION.

Walking time from the restaurant to the chairlift: about 20 minutes one way.

3 Duisburgerweg

Starting point: Panoramarestaurant Eissee or mountain station Eisseebahn.

Easy hike that leads from the Eisseebahn mountain station via trail no. 3 to the Duisburger Hütte. Managed hut of the German Alpine Club, Duisburg section. A wonderful sun terrace and homemade specialties from the hut host "Düsi" (cell phone: 0664/4453353) entice you to stop there.

Walking time: approx. 30 minutes
Walking time back to the mountain station: approx. 45 minutes
Recommendation for the hiker: via path no. 14 Richard-Helfer-Weg downhill to the middle station.
Walking time approx. another 45 minutes

10 Wanderweg Hochwurtenspeicher

Starting point: mountain station Eisseebahn bwz. panorama restaurant Eissee.

Via trail no. 10 from the panorama restaurant Eissee downhill to the shore of the Hochwurtenspeicher (note the natural spectacle of the glacier stream), along the lake offers an easy and safe hike at about 2,450 m above sea level. At Hochwurtenspeicher continue on trail no. 14 to the mid station.

Walking time to the middle station: 2.5 hours.
For less experienced hikers it is recommended to continue on trail no. 10 from the Hochwurtenspeicher to the Weißseehaus and then take trail no. 13 along to the mid station. Walking time to the middle station: approx. 3 hours

13 Wanderweg Weißseehaus

Starting point: middle station

Via path no. 13 you hike easily and comfortably to the alpine center Weißseehaus (hut host Zraunig Peter / phone: 0664/4551848).

Walking time of one route: approx. 30 minutes

Demanding hiking trails

1 Gletscherwanderweg - View of 30 three thousand meter peaks

Starting point: Eisseebahn mountain station or panorama restaurant Eissee.

Secured and marked hiking trail, partly running across the glacier.
Ascent via trail no. 1 on the right edge of the glacier to the summit (3,122 m).
From there a fantastic panorama opens up to the observer.
Return to the valley with the chairlift and continue via trail no. 2 back to the mountain station Eisseebahn with panorama restaurant Eissee.

Total walking time: approx. 1.5 hours

4 Höhenwanderung

Starting point: Middle station

From 2,200 m to 2,800 m above sea level.
This is the classic connecting trail to the Eisseebahn mountain station.
Via trail no. 14 or trail no. 13 over the Weißseehaus and on to the Hochwurtenspeicher. There continue via trail no. 4 to the panorama restaurant Eissee!
The mountain lakes have a special charm in summer.
However, this hike is also highly recommended the other way round from the mountain to the valley.

Walking time one way: approx. 1,5 hours
TIP: Return to the valley with the Eissee cable car.

6 Feldseewanderung

Starting point: middle station.

Via the asphalted Panorama Trail No. 11 to the Feldsee junction, Trail No. 6 is also asphalted and leads directly to the idyllic Feldsee lake with its beautiful sites. A hike around the lake is not recommended because of the partly very steep shore.

Walking time there and back: 3 hours
Walking time one way: 1,5 hours

For experienced hikers with fitness and good equipment, the connection via trail no. 6 to the Tauernhöhenweg no. 5 is recommended.
Circular hike to the middle station approx. 5 hours

9 Connecting road to Kleinfragant - Innerfragant

Starting point: middle station.

From trail no. 13 in the direction of Weißseehaus continue to trail no. 12 (Sadnig Höhenweg), via the Saustellscharte to the trail junction with trail no. 9.
This hike leads over the so-called Patschgalm (Kleinfragant) to the valley back to Innerfragant (Alpenhotel Badmeister).
Trail no. 9 is not marked throughout.

Walking time of one route: 5.5 hours

14 Richard-Helfer-Weg

Richard Helfer was the founder of the DAV Section Duisburg, and the trail named after him is one of the most diverse and beautiful hiking trails on the Mölltal Glacier.

Starting point: middle station

Starting at the mid station, walk downhill along trail no. 14 to the Wurtenspeicher reservoir and continue along trail no. 11 the "Panoramastraße" back to the valley station.

Walking time to the valley station: approx. 3 hours

A, B, C Touring routes

Touring trails are paths and mountain trails, some of which are only suitable for experienced hikers. It is recommended to walk these trails only with a mountain guide and to wear appropriate mountain equipment.

5 Tauernhöhenweg and Touring Trail A

Description: This classic Tauern high trail is a well-marked high-altitude trail, which extends from the Sonnblick to the Ankogel (Mallnitz). Trail no. A leads from Sonnblick via Fraganter Scharte - Duisburger Hütte (trail no. 5) - Feldseescharte - Hagener Hütte to Hannoverhaus. The trail leads in part directly over the glacier. Hikers should have alpine experience in any case.
